The Grad Life Committee was formed in early February 2008, as a joint project of the Office of Graduate Studies and the Office of Vice Chancellor Student Affairs. Membership is made up of representatives from those two offices, graduate students (nominated by GSA), faculty (nominated by the Academic Senate), the Office of Campus Planning, Counseling and Psychological Services, and departmental graduate coordinators.

The committee meets monthly to review topics of importance to graduate students, and invites key campus resources to present their resources and concerns with the committee as a whole.

The committee also convenes several subcommittees on focused topics, including:

• mentoring/advising relationships
• administration and analysis of the Graduate and Professional Student Experience and Satisfaction (GPSES) Survey
• drafting a graduate student rights and responsibilities document
